Photo of the Day

"Mt. St. Helens Sunset"
44mm, HDR exposure, Canon 7D, processed in Photomatix, Photoshop and Lightroom

Here's another HDR image. I don't know how the color depth will appear on your screen, but hopefully it looks ok.

I'm really enjoying HDR. As you can tell, I'm not the type to go "over the top" with it, but it's an incredibly useful technique regardless of how you like to use it.

That looks great, Benj. I still don't have a picture from that "shoot" that looks properly exposed. Your photo doesn't look to me like it was processed with HDR techniques except for the fact that the whole image is properly exposed in a situation where the camera couldn't do that!

You're right, it doesn't look very "HDR." In Lightroom, it actually is more vibrant and colorful, but the JPEG tones things down quite a bit...

I think one of these days I'll process one image two different ways - completely over-the-top HDR, and then moderate HDR to show the difference. I've noticed the tendency is to overdo it.

wow I didn't know they had that clear of a view of St. Helens from Texas! This was probably off your back porch?
