Cattle Egret: Testing out the Canon 300mm

420mm, 1/500, f5.6
Canon 7D, Canon 300mm f4 and 1.4x teleconverter

I'm renting one of Canon's 300mm f4 lenses and a 1.4x teleconverter for my trip down to the coast this weekend. It came the other day, and I went out to a local park to test drive it on some of the local wildlife.

The camera was set on AI Servo (auto-focus tracking) mode, and the drive was set to high-speed burst the whole time. Out of around 400-500 images, this is the only one that I would say definitely turned out.

A high failure rate? Maybe. But one really good is all I need to make it worthwhile. Hopefully I will get a lot more keepers this weekend.
