Ah, Spring
Yesterday was officially the first day of spring. Unfortunately the second day isn't nearly as nice. Christopher and I made the most of the fair weather and went on a run to state land last night at about 7:30-8:30. I'm a very very bad runner, but hopefully practice will force me to improve. Pete, I know what you mean about hydration packs. Having the water was great, but the thing was really clumsy--definitely better for biking and hiking. It would be so cool to participate in a triathalon (they hold one in Battleground), except, they'd better do swimming first, cuz after a run I'd probably drown:)(swimming in Battleground lake anytime would probably make me drown--it's more than a hundred feet deep!)

I rode my bike on that same route C and I took--the odometer read about 4.5 miles. Not bad for a start! :)
Lol, yeah, hydration packs aren't so hot for jogging. :) I definitely back you up on their helpfulness when on hikes and bike-rides though...
Hey, 4.5 mph hour isn't that bad for a start! It's a slow pace, but you'll get faster if you keep at it! :) Running kicks biking any day... :) *ducks*
Benjamin, do you ever do accompanying for singers or instruments? I just wondered because I have something I need an accompanist for and I can't think of anybody. E-mail me if you want to know the details. I would pay, too. :-) sonjad at islas dot org
I'm back--been gone for three days at the tournament.
Chels: only in Bg lake? :)
Ya, last run I went too soon after dinner--guess what happened? That won't happen again! :) BTW, you are so totally wrong about biking--I mean cycling...;)
Sonja, I've never tried--you're talking about piano right? I'll contact you soon.
I gotta go right a quick post about our tournament.
welll....I can't log in right now. Suffice it to say the tourney was awsome. More later. :)
Oh, Pete, I meant we ran 4.5 miles--don't know how fast we were going.
Well, you'd said that you went from 7:30 to 8:30... And if the distance was 4.5 miles, then you were going 4.5 mph. :) That's where I got that from...
Cycling, biking, same thing. :) At any rate, running still kicks biking. :)
Ah, I see. We ran and walked periodically though, so that's more of an average.
You just say think that cuz you haven't biked enough. Personally, I think biking is more enjoyable, but running can be more challenging (and tiring :P)
Oooohhh, I see. :)
Let's put it this way: biking is simply pleasurable, and running is THE manly way to keep in shape. It's a lot less time consuming for the same amount of energy, too, so it's a much more efficient way to get exercise. :)
And need I mention that it's about $4000 cheaper? :)
Yeah, piano. Sorry. :-) Ok, well, the only thing about accompanying, if you've never done it before, is you can't be too perfectionistic (unless you want to practice a ton). But I think I've heard you improvising before, so you probably wouldn't have a problem. It is kind of far away, though. It's in Salem. We could probably give you a ride, but I know it's a long way, still. If you are still at all interested, please let me know soon, because I have to figure this out before I leave to visit colleges. Thanks so much! :-)
Ya, primordial man wished he could ride, but since they'd only invented square wheels by then, the best he could do was run. :)
Regardless of efficiency, you can actually enjoy the scenery while you ride. Besides, it sounds more impressive to say "I rode 80 miles today," than "I ran 5." No, really I enjoy both.
Sonja, I don't have an email adress just now, or I'd get in touch that way. Could you give me some dates? So far, my weekends are pretty full. I'll try to figure it out soon.
Saturday, April 29. And we could practice after church.
Bikes are like really up-to-date, modern, technologically superior horses. Seriously, horseback riding is fun, but I never really learned how, so that's why I ride a metal super-steed! :)
Hey Sonja and Benj, are you guys going to be performing for a Benefit Concert at the Portland Performing Arts Center on the 29th of April? Because, Pete's going to be playing then too! The girl who's getting it together has brothers and sisters in the choir, so she heard about Pete and asked him... anyway, I was hoping you were talking about the same concert, because I's really love see you sing and play!!! :)
Often... :)
Lol, I can personally vouch for Chels's mad wading skills... Can't swim, but boy can she wade! :)
Sorry guys, I simply must insist that, as Jon would say, "Running kicks biking and horsy riding seriously posterior." :)
Benj, where are you playing on the 29th?
Uh, I hope Jon doesn't get too mad at me for that slightly inaccurate paraphrase... lol :)
Fine, keep your opinions! :)
Sonja Decker is singing at a competition and needed an accompanyist--that would be me. I've never tried it before, but it should be fun.
[insert obligatory reference to 7 hp here]
Uhhh, could you translate that into English?
Uh, I don't recall ever saying that, Pete. ;-) If I did, my opinion has certainly changed. Having significant experience in riding both bikes and horses, I have to admit that I wouldn't elevate one above the other. They both have their advantages and disadvantages - what's important is that they're both a blast. :-)
Lol, I was more referring to your phraseology under different circumstances... Not an actual quote. :)
