Photo of the Day

"Fountain at the McNay"
65mm, f5.6, 1/100, Canon 7D and 28-135 f3.6, processed in Lightroom

This was one of the very first photos I took with my new Canon 7D, and it was also the very first time I employed some really cool techniques in Lightroom to give it that special "look." If you're interested I can clue you in on some of the editing techniques I used to process this shot. Enjoy!

Nice shot. Any reason you didn't go for a slower shutter speed?

I think I went with 1/100 because it was already mid-day and the scene was brightly lit. A slower shutter speed would have resulted in over-exposure... I think that's why. :)

OK. If you'd had a tripod it would have been neat to stop down the aperture and ISO, and take a longer exposure to blur the falling water. Not sure how the pool of water would have turned out though in that situation.

Just wondering, do you have some kind of copy right security? It seems like with posting all these photos on the open web, anyone who pleases could take them and call them their own.

Well, I hope you continue posting them. It is neat to see how you edit them. :)

Andra, very good point. For some reason I hadn't thought about using a small watermark when I post these...

I appreciate you pointing out the obvious! :)
